Singapore turned out to be quiet similar to Kuala Lumpur with shopping centers and humid wet weather being the two consistent factors.
To save a little on money we took the over night train from Kuala Lumpur down to Singapore city. Like all the over nighters, the train ride was fairly easy going with the exception of border control where we had to leave with all our luggage and go through customs. Only a small inconvenience.
Arriving in the city we found the cheapest hotel relatively close to everything. As it was the start of the high season prices were expensive compared to what we had paid previously across the rest of Asia. Was to be expected though.
We spent two nights in Singapore mainly spending the days window shopping in the numerous shopping malls. Like KL there was a huge amount choice and variety within each of the numerous malls. By coincidence when we were in KL they had pre Christmas sales on and we definitely availed. Singapore however was a little more expensive due to the lack of sales. At that stage we pretty much had spent our Christmas quota.
We had plans to do some sight seeing around Singapore, but again the weather wasn't great. We walked around the main shopping area Orchard Road, a quick stop off at Chinatown and Clarkes Quay sufficed for the night time excursions. We paid a visit to the famous Hooters on Clarke Quay one of the nights. I think to all our disappointments it didn't quiet live up to our expectations. Let's say they didn't quiet have the biggest (pro) portions that we would of expected from Hooters. Ah well.
Singapore like most of the cities we visited fell under the brackets of not really enough time to see everything. This was a little disappointing as we probably tried too squeeze as much in as possible. Looking back we could of changed a few things to utilize the time a little better. However, the hardest thing to stick by when traveling is a plan. Having a loose idea of what you want to do and see is best. We'll definitely be approaching the South American leg with this in thought.
