Full moon party November 2007 here we go!!! Saturday has finally rolled around and the place is starting to fill up. Day trippers from Ko samui and the other islands line the beach and a few hard core people from last nite are still going but looking a bit worse for wear. A day of intense chilling out now followed by a nite of god know's what lie ahead. Pictures to follow and we'll try put into words what we come across but if last nite was anything to go by that will be easier said than done.

Major apologies for not updating the blog over the recent weeks. Everything has been really hectic moving from place to place only staying a couple of days. Never time to settle down. In Sydney now with super fast wireless. The posts will be coming thick and fast pretty much covering all the goings on around the Islands, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
Getting to Koh Phangan worked out pretty well. We flew from HCMC into Bangkok and got the night train down to Surat Thani in the same day to save on time. Generally it's been easy travelling around on the ...

After a week long partying on Koh Phangan, Koh Tao was great island to relax a little. From advice from people we met along the way, Ban's Diving was the chosen resort we stayed in for the week. As we were doing the Open Water Padi accommodation was subsidized, so it worked out really reasonable. The group had gathered a few more with John, Jill, the "C" girls and the infamous Jonny and Seanie all hitting the turtle island for a few days.
Diving was amazing, a little daunting at times but really something I'll continue to do as much ...

About time I wrote a post again, have been getting a bit lazy letting Raymo post everything while we are too busy finishing off our crates of VB ( Victoria Brew I think - good stuff).
After all the travelling throughout Vietnam, I must admit we were all relieved to finally make it to the party island that Kho Phangan is. Even the change of weather after we were washed out in Vietnam was a welcome. Settled in at the Seaside resort on Sunset Beach, which is the opposite side of the pier from Sunrise beach where the full moon ...

What can you say about this place? Its hard to describe but i'll give it a go. For those who are'nt familiar, Koh Phi Phi is broken up into two Islands. One is Phi Phi , which is the place where you can stay, eat, drink, dance the night away on. The other is Phi Phi Lay, where you cant do any of that, but what you can do is just enjoy the most amazing scenery you will ever see - guaranteed. It's the place where the film 'The Beach' was filmed, and if you think it looks good in ...

Leaving Dublin back on the 9th December was definitely a big decision, but weighing everything up, working abroad and living in another country is right for me now. Family and friends will be missed for sure along with the small home comforts, but you cant have it all.
Only a couple of hours into traveling and I missed my flight in London to Bahrain by five minutes, drama already. I blame BMI for leaving Dublin twenty five minutes late. Like Ryanair, BMI state a longer flying time than it actually takes, allowing them to be always on time, very annoying. ...

Two mini-buses, two tuk-tuks and one ferry got us to Koh Tao taking 19 hours. On the plus side the ticket only cost a 1000 Baht or 20 Euro and we didn't end up paying more as we were dropped off in numerous random places before making it to the ferry crossing in Surat Thani.
Koh Tao or Turtle island is famous for being the largest diving resort in Thailand. Last year I completed the Open Water Padi course here which was a really cool experience. I had to planned to start the Advance Water Padi, but it never materialized. ...

Of all Thailand Koh Phangan is by far my favourite. The mecca for party goers since the late eighties still attracts massive crowds eager to witness and be part of the full moon party event. Being here last year was a plus in deciding where to stay and what bars to hit to enjoy what the island has to offer.
Travelling on my own at this stage it was good to meet Max from the ferry. Max from England is on a mini gap year taking in South East Asia and Australia. We took a taxi down ...
